Background
Jens Ceulemans is a Scientific Director Biopharmaceutics at Janssen, which is the pharmaceutical branch of Johnson & Johnson. He received his Pharmacy Degree from University of Antwerp (Belgium) in 1996, and his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2002 from the same university. After having multiple roles at Janssen including scientific integrator for drug product development and preformulation & developability lead, he became the biopharmaceutics lead at Janssen in 2018. In his current role, he’s responsible to support the development of Janssen compounds in both early and late clinical phases with biopharmaceutical assessments including a combination of in vitro, in silico/modelling, as well as (pre)clinical studies. His research efforts are focussed on characterizing the absorption potential of complex and enabling formulations, as well as biopharmaceutical characterization of emerging drug delivery platforms. He’s also involved in the COST action UNGAP (member of management committee), and the VINOVA funded consortium SweDeliver.
